Dr. M Yamin in free screening camp for poor patients

A free screening camp for poor patients requiring free knee and hip replacement under "Operation Walk" project was conducted on Sunday at a private hospital. Around 300people were screened and registered during the camp. In view of the overwhelming response of patients, more free screening will be held by the hospital's department of orthopedics in the month of September.

Giving information about the proposed project, professor and head of the department, Dr Mohammed Yamin, said that Operation Walk was a private, non-profit, volunteer medical service project that provided free surgical treatment to patients in developing countries, who had arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions and had little to no access to life-improving care.

Orthopaedic surgeons at the hospital and team members from a US institute will be constantly upgrading themselves in advanced surgical techniques, treatment of diseases and the recovery procedures of hip and knee joint conditions as part of the project.

More than 3,000 patients in Russia, Cuba, Nepal, China, Philippines, Nicaragua, Mexico, El Salvador and USA have been operated upon as part of this project.

The hospital has started registering patients for free hip and knee replacement surgeries for poor patients. To make the people of the region aware of this facility, it will be organizing camps at regular intervals with the help of charitable organizations in various locations of the state.
